What is base bevel?
Base bevel is how many degrees the base edge is ground away from flat. A 1° base bevel means the edge is slightly recessed — the board sits on a micro-flat spot before the edge engages. This reduces catching edges but slightly delays edge bite.
What does 'detuning' mean?
Detuning means dulling (rounding off) the edges near the contact points at the tip and tail. Park and freestyle riders do this to prevent the board catching an edge on boxes and rails.
