Frequently asked questions
What is the 3-6-9 spare system?
The 3-6-9 spare system is a targeting method where you move your feet (not your target at the arrows) by 3, 6 or 9 boards depending on which column of pins you need to hit. For right-handers: 3 boards right for 3-pin column, 6 right for 2-pin column, 9 right for 7-pin column. Keep your arrow target the same.
Should I hook at spares or go straight?
Most coaches recommend going as straight as possible for single-pin spares, especially the 7 and 10. Use a plastic (polyester) ball that doesn't react to the dry boards. Reserve your hooking ball for frame strikes where you want backend motion.
