Frequently asked questions

How does scoring a strike work in bowling?

A strike (knocking all 10 pins with your first roll) scores 10 points plus the total of your next two rolls as a bonus. So if you strike, then roll a 7 and a 2 next frame, that strike frame scores 10 + 7 + 2 = 19. This is why consecutive strikes build a score so quickly.

What is the maximum bowling score?

300 — a perfect game. This requires twelve strikes in a row: a strike in each of the first nine frames, plus three strikes in the tenth frame (the 10th frame allows two bonus rolls after a strike). Each strike scores 30 (10 + 10 + 10), and 10 frames × 30 = 300.
