Visualisation (mental imagery) is the practice of vividly rehearsing a performance in the mind — imagining the movements, sensations and successful execution of a skill. Research shows mental imagery activates many of the same neural pathways as physical practice, improving skill acquisition, confidence and competitive preparation. Most effective when multi-sensory (seeing, feeling, hearing the performance) and combined with physical practice. Elite athletes across virtually all sports use structured visualisation as part of their preparation.
- Vivid mental rehearsal of performance
- Activates similar neural pathways to physical practice
- Improves skill, confidence and readiness
- Most effective when multi-sensory + physical practice
