Technical superiority (sometimes called a 'tech fall') ends a wrestling match early when one wrestler builds a decisive points lead over the other — 10 points in freestyle, 15 in Greco-Roman, and a set margin (commonly 15) in US folkstyle. It rewards dominant performance by stopping a one-sided contest, much as a mercy rule does in other sports. Along with the pin and a points decision, technical superiority is one of the principal ways to win a wrestling match, and it earns strong team points in dual-meet formats.
