Stableford is the most popular club golf format in the UK. Points are awarded on each hole based on net score against par (gross score minus handicap strokes): double bogey or worse = 0 pts, net bogey = 1 pt, net par = 2 pts, net birdie = 3 pts, net eagle = 4 pts. The key advantage over stroke play is that a bad hole (0 points) simply stops scoring — you pick up and move on rather than adding damage to your total. A good Stableford score is 36+ points (equal to handicap).
