What is Corsi %?

A shot-attempt differential metric used as a proxy for puck possession and territorial dominance.

Corsi % (CF%) is all shot attempts for divided by all shot attempts (for + against) at even strength. It counts goals, saves, missed shots and blocked shots — every shot attempt. A Corsi above 50% means a player or team generates more shot attempts than opponents, indicating puck possession and offensive zone time. Sustained high Corsi is one of the strongest predictors of winning percentage.
