Frequently asked questions

How many waves should I catch in a session?

It varies enormously by conditions, crowd and skill level — a beginner in small, uncrowded surf might catch 15-20 waves in an hour, while an intermediate surfer in bigger, more crowded conditions might only catch 5-8 quality waves. Tracking your own average over time is more useful than comparing to a universal benchmark.

Why log which board I used?

Different boards suit different conditions and skill goals — a longer, higher-volume board catches more waves with less effort (good for building wave count and fitness), while a shorter, lower-volume board is harder to catch waves on but rewards better technique. Logging board choice against session results shows you which board actually matches your current conditions and goals.
