Frequently asked questions
How do I find my max heart rate?
220 minus age is the rough estimate (±10-15 bpm individual variation). More accurately: run a 5K all-out and note the highest reading in the final kilometre, or do a maximal uphill interval. A lab VO2 max test gives the most accurate result.
What is LTHR?
Lactate threshold heart rate — the HR at which blood lactate begins to accumulate rapidly. It's typically 80-90% of max HR for trained runners. A 30-minute all-out time trial average HR is a common field test estimate for LTHR.
