What is True Shooting % (TS%)?

Points ÷ (2 × (FGA + 0.44 × FTA)) — the most comprehensive measure of scoring efficiency.

True Shooting % accounts for the value of all three scoring methods: 2-point field goals, 3-point field goals and free throws. A player who scores 24 points on 15 FGA + 6 FTA has: TS% = 24 ÷ (2 × (15 + 0.44 × 6)) = 24 ÷ 35.3 = 68%. The 0.44 factor converts free throw attempts to possession equivalents. NBA league average TS% is approximately 57%; above 60% is elite. TS% allows fair comparison between players with different scoring methods.
