What is Powder Snow?

Fresh, light, dry snow that offers a floating sensation — prized by experienced skiers and snowboarders.

Powder is fresh, light, dry, ungroomed snow — the most prized condition for many experienced skiers and snowboarders. Skiing powder offers a unique floating, surfy sensation as the skis or board ride within rather than on top of the snow. It requires a different technique (more centred or slightly back weight distribution, smoother rounded turns and maintained momentum) and is physically tiring. Wider 'powder' skis and boards with greater surface area and rocker make floating in deep snow much easier.
