What is Finishing Percentage?

The percentage of checkout attempts (doubles) that a player successfully converts.

Finishing percentage is checkouts hit divided by checkout attempts. Professional players convert 40–50% of checkout attempts; strong club players around 30–40%; recreational players typically 15–25%. It is calculated separately from the three-dart average because even a high-average player can lose legs by missing doubles. Targeting the most accessible checkouts (double 16, double 20 and double 8 are most common) improves finishing percentage.

Key points
  • Checkouts hit ÷ checkout attempts
  • 40–50% = professional level
  • 20–30% = good club level
  • D16, D20 and D8 are most common finishing doubles
